Mercat de Sarrià
This Market was founded over a 100 years ago. It has supplied the local community with food ever since it was founded.
Located in the neighborhood of Sarrià, the market was designed by the architects Arnau Calvet and Marcelí Coquillat. Despite being renovated in 1967, it had to close again for a complete refit and reopened in 2007. Therefore, it looks old from the outside, but is quite modern on the inside.
There are plenty of stalls to be found in this market, some of which prepare high quality take a way meals. Unlike la Boqueria market, which is in the centre of Barcelona, Mercat de Sarrià is more tucked away from all the touristic highlights of the city. Every stall is designated to a specialty, e.g. seafood, meat, fruit, vegetables, sausages, etc. It also offers a great bar called El Mercat de Sarrià, which serves some coffee or a homemade meal.
