Barcelona City Guide The best things to see and do in Barcelona

Mar Bella Beach

Barcelona has a lot of really nice beaches to offer. One of them is Mar Bella beach that belongs to the Sant Marti district. It is located on the eastern side of Barcelona about 20 minutes by foot from the Poblenou metro stop. However, it is easily accessible by bike as a bike trail runs right by.

Mar Bella is a very popular place for locals especially the young during the summer time. It offers a children’s play area, skating area, a volleyball court, a basketball net and a ping-pong area as well as a beach library that is open during the summer time.

Also, this beach is perfect for practicing water sports, such as windsurfing as the wind conditions are really good for this kind of activity.

However, it is important to note that the Mar Bella beach is also known as Barcelona’s nudist beach as it has a designated nudist area. Nonetheless, it is not obliged to be nude in order to enjoy this beach.

Other facilities include public bathrooms, showers, and lifeguards. You can also find kiosks as well as ice cream stands.

In terms of security, even though there are always civil guards present, you still should not leave your belongings unattended, also please avoid bringing anything of value to the beach, since Barcelona is a pickpockets’ paradise.

Mar Bella Beach is located between the beaches of Nova Mar Bella and Bogatell. There is a sports center very near the beach. The Promenade stretches as far as the beach of la Barceloneta.
