Filmoteca de Catalunya
Located in one of the oldest districts of Barcelona, El Raval, near the Rambla de las Flores and the Lyceum, you can find the Filmoteca de Catalunya, or the Film Library of Catalonia.
The Filmoteca has two cinemas, the Chomón hall, with a capacity of 360 seats, and the Laya Hall, with a capacity of 184 seats. In these cinemas they do a lot of themed showing of movies, with upcoming themes such as Tim Burton or Shakespeare. In Tim Burton's honor, the Filmoteca de Catalunya is hosted in 2013 a Tim Burton showing during the summer with classics such as: Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Mars Attacks. They also have showed some films that have inspired Tim Burton.
Every year the exhibition room of almost 300 m2 hosts three temporary film culture exhibitions. The showroom also contains two small projection rooms to highlight film images and to allow valuable audiovisuals for each exhibitions organized.
A bright and modern library. This collections holds over 45.000 books, 1500 historical titles, 20.000 graphic files, 8000 films and 5000 soundtracks on CD, just to name a few. In addition, the Filmoteca holds 1,250 pieces in its collection of cinematic devices.
