About Gracia

It is a uniquely traditional neighbourhood in Barcelona. It gives you the feeling that you are in a town completely separated from Barcelona’s busy lifestyle, due to its’ narrow streets and small community, it has become one of the most popular areas of the city. Only a few kilometers away from the center, but much more peaceful, it is an excellent place to relax and admire Gracia’s historic buildings with beautiful terraces.

With a significant amount of immigrants and diverse foreign restaurants, this area attracts a lot of artists and other bohemian crowds. Gracia is also known for their exceedingly proud residents, which consider themselves from Gracia, instead of Barcelona.

In August an 8-day festival is celebrated every year called Festa Major de Gràcia. It is a street festival, one of Barcelona's biggest and most popular neighbourhood festival, attracting about one and a half million visitors each year. The streets suddenly change from being calm and peaceful to very cheerful and crowded.

Another great feature about Gràcia is how close it is to Park Güell. This park is one of the best attractions in Barcelona, designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí, who is definitely a main character in Barcelona’s history. Compared to the old centre of el Born, Barri Gotic and el Raval, Gracia can be considered less touristy, but it has the atmosphere of a village inside a big city that allows you to enjoy a more tranquil Barcelona lifestyle.
