A Rooftop in the old city apartment

USERRATING 8/10 2012-05-20 by client The location was very central. It not in the most secure part of the city. The terrace was fabulous and made our stay really enjoyable. Would have been nice to have some basic extras for cooking such as oil and condiments and a larger coffee pot. The bed is low so not the best for people with restricted flexibility. Useful info

Public Transport

Barcelona boasts a fantastic public transport system, with clean, efficient bus, tram and metro systems. All the major attractions are well connected, and the fares are very cost effective.
The fare system is integrated, meaning you can use your tickets on any of the transport methods.

Prices

Your best bet is to get a T-10 card, valid for use on the buses, metro, tram, and train from the airport. It currently costs 7.20€, and you get 10 journeys. A journey counts as under 1 hour15 minutes, so you can get off the metro and on the bus and it will only count as 1 journey. The card can be used for more than one person, but you must pass the ticket through the machine once for each person.

The metros have turnstiles, and the buses and trams have a machine inside the vehicle.
You can get your ticket from the automated machines at every station, which accept credit cards, notes and coins.

Times

Metro
Monday-Thursday: 05:00-24:00
Sunday & holiday: 05:00-24:00
Friday: 05:00-02:00
Saturday: All night.

The trains run every 5 minutes or so, except late at night and on Sundays when they come every 10mins.

There are several public holidays throughout the year, such as La Mercé when the metro runs all night.

The metro is easy to navigate, with maps at all stations.

Buses run until 24:00, after that there are Nitbuses which run less frequently.

The aerobus service runs every 15 minutes to and from Plaza Catalunya. The price is 4.05€ for a single and 7€ for a return. The buses are bright blue.

Getting to and from Girona Airport.

Barcelona bus

The easiest way is the special Barcelona bus. It runs from outside Girona Airport to Estació d´Autobusos Barcelona Nord, which is right next to the Arc de Triomf metro. The bus conveniently cooincides with Ryanair flights, although it is worth remembering that it is run by a different company so there are no guarantees in case of delay.
