During the whole summer in Barcelona there are a lot of things which you should not miss. The city organises many events such as concerts, "fiestas", sport events or festivals and more or less every week you can find an occasion for having fun and enjoy the city.

July - August 2010: The biggest saving bank of Europe and the third largest bank of Catalonia, "LaCaixa" organises during the summer months July and August several events in its cultural centre "CaixaForum". Situated close to Montjuïc mountain, theatres, poetry readings, electronic DJs or gospel choirs take place on summer evenings.

23-24 June 2010: This week "Nit the Sant Joan" takes places in the night from 23 - 24 July. This is one of the biggest and most popular parties in Barcelona and other cities in Spain. During one whole night, people are dancing on streets and beaches and fireworks as well as bonfires are seen everywhere in the city.

2 - 12 June 2010: During these days, at several places in Barcelona, concerts with some of the most famous singers, pianists and guitarists take place. Some concerts are for free. Do not hesitate and join the Barcelona Festival of Song.

24 June 2010: Just one day after,the 24 July, one of the most popular bands, Kiss, will give a concert in the biggest arena of Barcelona which is situated close to the Olympia Stadium.

24 June 2010: If you want to have more rock, then don't miss the Crowed House concert in one of the hottest night clubs in Barcelona, the Razzmatazz. This famous rock band from Australia will give a concert at the same day, the 24 July.

24 June 2010: If you prefer folk and pop music, then you should not miss Bob Dylan who will give an exclusive concert in Barcelona. This is the only location in Spain, where he will give a concert during its World Tour 2010.

27 June 2010: Still not enough of rock music? No problem. The 27 July, Aerosmith will rock in the same location than Kiss: in Palau Sant Jordi.

28 - 30 June 2010: An amazing experience is to watch a movie on a mountain and under stars. Everybody can have this experience by going in the early night hours to Montjuïc castle during 28 - 30 July and attend the open air cinema at Montjuïc.


1- 5 July 2010: "International Dance Festival in Urban Landscapes" is a formidable occasion to see shows and performances of professional dancers for free.

2 - 4 July 2010: During these days, the MotoGP will take place in one of the best racetracks for this event, in Montmeló, a town close to Barcelona. An event which you should not miss if you are in town not only because of cheap ticket prices.

2 July - 2 November 2010: During 4 months, the winner of the Joan Miró prize, the famous video artist Pipilotti Rist, will show an exhibition of his works in the Joan Miró foundation on Montjuïc mountain.

3 - 4 July 2010: Everybody who likes doing extreme sport or watching events related to it, should not miss the "Barcelona extreme sport festival" which takes place from 3 to 4 July in Barcelona. During this huge international sport event you can find performances of skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding...

3 July 2010: The only concert in Spain, which the world famous group Black Eyed Peas will give, is in Barcelona. Therefore, a huge football stadium is reserved and thanks to this special open air location, the concert will be for sure a special experience.

3 July 2010: For everybody who is looking for a great event with a fantastic view should go to Montjuïc by night on 3 July from 8pm. For free, everybody can enjoy museums, beautiful parks, concerts...Wonderful view over Barcelona!!

4 July 2010: Sport-friends watch out! One of many 10 km challenge runs in Barcelona will take place this day in Sant Andreu district. These famous runs are organised regularly and thousands of local people are coming together in order to see this event. Don't miss Cursa la Maquinista.

8 - 11 July 2010: European Balloon Festival is a one of the most spectacular events you can see in heaven. Usually, more than 25 000 people attend this event and can marvel at about 40 coloured balloons in the sky.

9 July 2010: This year, the European Athletics Championship will take place in Barcelona. Only a couple of weeks before, Barcelona International Athletics Meeting will take place in the grandiose Olympia Stadium of Barcelona. The latter one is a unique opportunity to meet famous athletics.

13 July 2010: Morcheeba is one of the most popular alternative music bands and they will host a concert in Barcelona's smashing nightclub Sala Apolo. Don't miss this concert as prices are not expensive and it is worth to see this great band.

16 - 17 July 2010: During 2 days, people can enjoy great musicians such as Ben Harper and Manu Chao by attending the "Festival Cruilla Barcelona 2010" which takes place in the immense Parc del Forum.

19 - 21 July 2010: The biggest Catalan theatre festival will take place during 3 days in Barcelona where people can not only watch acting performances but also show their acting skills and learn how to act. This is a great opportunity for those who are looking for a career in this field.

22 July 2010: The fantastic Norwegian group, Kings of Convenience, will come to Barcelona in order to give their only concert in Spain. It will take place in Barcelona's Poble Espanyol, a magnificent area where Spanish history and culture are coming together.

23 July 2010: The world famous guitarist and singer Mark Knopfler will come to the neighbour town of Barcelona and have a concert in the grandiose "Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona". This top location is accessible by train or car and is located very close to Barcelona.

26 July 2010: Grammy-winning vocalist and songwriter Seal gives only two concerts in Spain during his World Tour 2010. One of them will take place in Barcelona in the beautiful area Poble Espanyol. This place fits perfect to his songs as it has a magnificent and marvellous atmosphere.

15 - 21 July 2010: Festa Major de Gràcia is one of the biggest, nicest and greatest festivals in Barcelona. During a whole week, people will dance, make music and enjoy the life together. During these days, you can find the best decorated streets of Barcelona. Under no circumstances miss this event if you are in town right then.

4 - 8 August 2010: David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Erick Morillo, Sander Kleinenberg...all these marvellous and very popular DJs are coming to Barcelona! Don't miss the "Barcelona Summer Week" which is great opportunity to see and enjoy the world's best DJs at the same time.

5 - 8 August 2010: Another festival where many concerts are organised in the whole city is Busker's Festival. Musicians from all over the world are attending this international music festival and concerts are mostly for free. Great atmosphere and smashing music are guaranteed!

21 - 27 August 2010: Festa Major de Sitges is a similar festival to those of Gràcia. Sitges is a very nice town close to Barcelona and during one week, people celebrates it in streets and on the beach. Music, dance and dress up performances are organised everywhere in streets.

11 September 2010: Catalonien's National Day is another occasion to celebrate together on streets, beaches and other locations. During this marvellous event concerts, parades and demonstrations take place which are all for free.

15 September 2010: Alejandro Sanz is a very popular Spanish singer and songwriter who got the Grammy award in 2004. He will host a concert in the immense Palau Sant Jordi close to Olympia Stadium.

16 September 2010: Joaquín Sabina is one of the most famous singers of the Spanish-speaking world and he will come to Barcelona to give a concert. After a break he is now back on stage and performing better than ever.

18 September 2010: If you are a Hip Hop fan then don't miss the very popular and amazing Hipnotik Festival. This great event offers a wide range of concerts, competition, workshops and more.

19 September 2010: A great sport event which will take place in September is "La Cursa de la Mercè". Each year, more than 10 000 people take part of this 10 km run throughout the city and its most popular places of interest.

23 - 26 September 2010: Another huge event which takes place in Barcelona is the grandiose BAM Festival. More than 50 different music acts are represented and all this is for free.

23 - 26 September 2010: At the same time like BAM festival, La Mèrce Festival takes place. It is without doubt the biggest and most popular festival in Barcelona. During one week, concerts, open-air-dancing, human towers...are organised in the whole city. This event should not be missed.

September 2010: Catalan Wine and Cava show is an immense event in Barcelona where vintners present their cavas and wines from the region. Wine can be tasted for free!

September 2010: Asia Festival is a big festival which takes places in Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona. Fantastic arts, crafts, cuisines, music and dance performances from across Asia will be shown.
