The best way of discovering the city of Barcelona is by walking around. If one loves taking a stroll through the city, then take the time to do it and discover the most beautiful and hidden places. On our list, we recommend ideal areas to walk around and explore.

 

Boardwalk

Begin the walk by admiring the sailboats in the Olympic Port as continuing down the beautiful boardwalk gaze into the Mediterranean waters.

This is always a very lively place with active young people rollerblading or running down the boardwalk. It is an incredible scene with views of the water and the port.

Stop to grab a sandwich or ice cream cone at one of the many kiosks -or sit down and relax in the Barceloneta Park.

End the walk at the front of the Westin Hotel, and if looking for a luxurious treat, have a drink on the top floor of this beautiful hotel with its breath-taking views of the city.

The Ramblas

Las Ramblas is an emblematic street, and a Must-See for every visitor in Barcelona. It is a very colorful kind of promenade lined with flower stalls, living statues, kiosks, street sellers and much more. This tree-lined pedestrian street  stretches for 1.2 kilometres connecting the Plaza Catalyuna to the Port Vell with the Chritopher Colombus monument.

Begin the walk at the beautiful Plaza Catalunya fountain and head down the famous street La Rambla. Here one will see much of the touristic side of Barcelona with multiple sellers lined up on both sides of the unique centric path of the Ramblas.

Take a break and grab a crêpe or an ice cream cone at one of the most delicious kiosks. About half way down stop into the Boqueria Market, and experience a true Barcelona market.

Around the end, one can see the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, there catch a horse and carriage ride up the Rambla back to Plaza Catalunya. The street is very popular for both tourists and locals with a constant lively atmosphere. It is also a magnet for numerous street artists.

Passeig de Gracia

Passeig de Gracia is one of the major avenues in Barcelona and also one of its most important shopping and business areas, which contains several of the city's well known works of architecture.

Leave Plaza Catalunya by walking up the right upper street to Passeig de Gracia. Here is where some one of Gaudí's most prestigious architecture designs reside. When continuing the walk through this street, one can see some of the most expensive and luxurious stores and designer brands known worldwide such as Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Armani, Michael Kors and many others.

While walking along the sidewalk don't forget to stop by one of the restaurants or bars and grab a bite to eat, a coffee or a chocolate treat.

Olympic Park

The spectacular city views from the top of the Olympic park       make this walk worthwhile. One can see where the 1992       Olympic games were held and pass the Olympic swimming pool, soccer stadium and track. Just beyond it, there is a breath taking Botanical Garden, stop by and walk along its' beautiful paths.

At the end of the walk, head down the Montjuïc mountain towards Plaza España and enjoy the beautiful views it offers, and take time to visit the old Bull fighting arena which is now an amazing shopping mall.
