Restaurants in Barcelona

tapas barcelonaBarcelona is packed with restaurants and bars on every street. In our Restaurants section of our Apartime.com guide to Barcelona we have gathered some very interesting information about Barcelona gastronomy and we recommend you to browse it with detail! However, the food and drink in Spain is delicious and the locals take a big interest in what they eat.

But one of the best things about eating out in Barcelona is the nocturnal nature of the place and the calm, relaxed atmosphere in all the restaurants. Most restaurants do not shut until after 12, bars not till 3 at the earliest and clubs nearer 6 in the morning!

Due to this rich quality of food there is a hug choice when it comes to picking where to eat. You can find about every type of food you could possibly imagine but if you are very keen on good food you have to do a bit of research in to where is good. The famous Ramblas have restaurants all the way down them which are packed all day long but no local would ever eat there as they have quite typical menus to cater to the tourists. The best places are hidden away, in a dimly lit back street or in the more unsuspecting areas of the city. These places are not the kind of places you just stumble across, you need to get inside information from someone who knows what they're talking about. But regardless of where you end up, you will probably always be able to find a bit of tapas or salted cod.

Similarly there are so many cool little bars which is where you should be spending your time as opposed to the numerous Irish Pubs around the city! Most tyically Spanish bars sell beers and the classic mojitos and they re really not to extortionate. For all the best places the lonely planet guide book is a trusty one to go by if you do not have time to explore or consult an expert, but the food in Spain is so good and unique that you should try not to eat anything you can find at home while you are out here.

As for tipping it is not very common in Spain to tip- however if you are feeling generous and have received exceptional service the normal amount is between 5% and 10%.
