A Rooftop in the old city apartment

USERRATING 8/10 2012-05-20 by client The location was very central. It not in the most secure part of the city. The terrace was fabulous and made our stay really enjoyable. Would have been nice to have some basic extras for cooking such as oil and condiments and a larger coffee pot. The bed is low so not the best for people with restricted flexibility. Restaurants in Barcelona

accommodation in BarcelonaCerveceria Catalana is one of the most popular tapas restaurants in Barcelona. It might be slightly frowned upon by locals as its recent renovation means it is now very big, swish and modern. It is not like entering a small, narrow dingy bar/restaurant where no one speaks English and all the customers seem part of the furniture. So in that sense Cerveceria Catalan seems a little bit commercial but the place is packed all day an night, all days of the week. The queue often runs out of the door, and there is utter confusion as you cannot book, so everyone is trying to get their name down on the list.

The tapas is delicious, they serve some of the best croquettes in the city, pimientos de padrón, calamari, tortialla, tomato bread and much much more. The house cava is delicious and the ambience is perfectly good. The best thing about it is the price as well. You can order so much food you think there is no way you will finish it and drink as much cava as you like and the bill will still average out at about 20€ a head. It is a great place for group dinners, they have tables that can easily sit up to 12 people, but beware in big groups you all need to be there to reserve the table and you might have a limited slot in there.

There is a bar at the door where you can sit if there are only a couple of you and have some pintxos (tapas on bread) to get started or wait for you table.
