Barceloneta beach is not just the longest beach in the city of Barcelona, but also the most central and popular one with the best infrastructure and the most services available. It has a length of 1.1 km and it is well connected to the rest of the city, due to its own metro stop (yellow line) and a variety of buses.
There are plenty of things to do on the beach, besides swimming. Windsurfing and kite surfing are becoming more and more popular in Barcelona. You can also simply enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the many beach bars, or just lie down and enjoy the Spanish sun while reading a good book.
The past years, Barceloneta’s beach has become more popular during the night. You can go to any of the bars alongside the beach, since during evening they all transform into clubs. In summer, there are plenty of festivals, such as beach parties and fireworks. For example: the Sant Juan Festival on the 23/24 of June.
Nonetheless, Barceloneta offers a great infrastructure with many restaurants, bars, shops, toilets and other services. You can find a nice children’s playground, a gym area, a volleyball courts, a skating area, ping-pong tables and table soccer. There is even a beach library service available in the summer for those that prefer a more quiet and relaxed way of spending their day.
In terms of safety, you can be assured that there a lifeguards as well as police close by.
