A Rooftop in the old city apartment

USERRATING 8/10 2012-05-20 by client The location was very central. It not in the most secure part of the city. The terrace was fabulous and made our stay really enjoyable. Would have been nice to have some basic extras for cooking such as oil and condiments and a larger coffee pot. The bed is low so not the best for people with restricted flexibility. In and Around Barcelona

Tibidabo mountain looks over Barcelona on the west side opposite the sea. It is the highest mountain in Serra de Collserrola at 512 metres. It gives the most amazing view over the city surpassing those afforded by Parc Güell.
There is an amusement park on the mountain. It is the oldest theme park in Barcelona and still has most of its original rides, some of which date back almost 10 years.

There are lots of types of rides, none of which compare to the newer ones around today. They are much moe sedate than what you see at theme parks these days and are, as a result, perfect for adults and children. There are people in fancy dress, little stalls and places to eat so it makes a great day out.

A day pass costs 25.00€ for an adult and 9.00€ for children smaller than 120cm. Children shorter than 90cm go free. If however you do not want pay that much there is the option to pay for individual rides one by one. However thisi limits the rides you can go on a they have to be the ones outside the gates, like the ferris wheel.

Make sure you check the park is open before you go. It has quite sporadic opening times:

In July and August it is open all week other Sundays and Mondays from midday to 9pm.

June, September and October it is open slightly less, and closes earlier in the spring according to the day light hours.

The rest of the year it is only open during weekends and bank holidays.

In February it is shut.

You can reach Tibidabo by furnicular railway, bus or car. To reach the railway take the ferrocarrils from Plaza Catlaunya line 7 Renfe.
