At the point where Avinguda Diagonal hits the sea, the Forum can be found, venue for the 2004 Fórum Universal de las Culturas celebrations.  The first thing that we see is one of the most emblematic buildings in the area, the Fórum building.

Prism shaped, whose base is an equilateral triangle of 180 meters wide by 25m high, the building was designed by swiss arquitects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.

The roof of the building has a small, shallow swimming pool which doubles as a thermal insulator.
Its facade, of a rough-textured, intense indigo blue, is crossed by several bands of glass reminiscent water pouring from the ceiling. The building sits suspended in the air by 17 points of support, creating a covered space for public use at street level.  The building is perforated by multiple skylights that cut through the building vertically.

Inside there is a subterranean auditorium with a capacity of 3200 seats and an exhibition hall of 5000m2. An underground walkway connects the building with the Barcelona International Convention Center.
During the Fórum celebrations, the building played host to multiple conferences and various exhibitions, as well as the protocol part of the inauguration and closure ceremonies. The best way to visit the Forum is by bicycle.
