This Plaza is a magical square in the Barrio Gótico, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Built on the grounds of a medieval cemetary, a church whose façade is pockmarked with bullet holes from pro-franquista shootings and shrapnel marks from a bomb dropped in the civil war overlooks a beautiful fountain, conjuring up an air of eery nostalgia.
The square is notoriously difficult to find, hidden at the end of a tiny winding street behind the barcelona cathedral. It is especially enchanting at night, enciting feelings of enchanted timelesness. The square was featured in a music video by the band Evanescence (shown below), which captures perfectly the ambience of the square. A must see for those looking for something special in their stay in Barcelona.
