In and Around Barcelona

There is a lot of parks and gardens all over the city of Barcelona. These places are very good  to take a breath, relax, speak quietly and have fun with friends or children. With more than 60 different areas, you will obviously find the ones you like !

Historical parks and gardens

These parks and gardens were generally built in the 18th century and modified in the 19th and/or 20th century. Because of their age, they are very fragile thus, there is not a lot activities to do but they are very nice for strolling. They are a part of the city's heritage thanks to their exceptional botanical value with even some specimens but also, big and monumental trees... The best historical parks and gardens of the city are the Parc de la Ciutadella, the Parc del Laberint d'Horta, the Jardins de Can Sentmenat, the Parc Güell and the Jardins del Palau del Palau Reial de Pedralbes.

Thematic parks and gardens

This kind of parks and gardens are focused on certain plant. They are collections and they can even be considered as museums. For example, you can visit the Cervantes Rose Gardens or the Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer focused on bulb plants. You can also go to the Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera to contemplate cactus and succulent plants.

Urban parks and gardens

This new generation of parks arrived in Barcelona in the middle of the 20th century. They have a very specific style because they are a mix of nature and urban architecture. They generally have a very good equipment so they are adapted to everybody. For example, you can find Wifi zone, basket ball areas, toilets, facility access... Some of the best urban parks and gardens in Barcelona are : Parc Diagonal Mar, Parc del Nus de la Trinitat, Parc de l'Espanya Industrial and the Jardins de Joan Brossa ...

Forest Parks

We can mostly find these parks in the Montjuic area in Barcelona. They generally have a big size and typical mountain vegetation. They are good places to walk, practice sport, have a picnic and relax under the trees. In summer for example, they are one of the best option if you don't support the sun because their big trees give you a lot of shadow and better temperature. You can for example discover this kind of Park in the Parc del Guinardó, the Parc Turó de la Peira and the Mirador del Migdia.
