Barcelona has a lot of really nice beaches to offer. One of them is Mar Bella beach that belongs to the Sant Marti district. It is located on the eastern side of Barcelona about 20 minutes by foot from the Poblenou metro stop; however, it is easily accessible by bike as a bike trail runs right by. Mar Bella offers about 500 m x 42 m of sandy beach and it is a very popular place for locals especially the young during the summer time.
It offers a children’s play area, skating area, a volleyball court, a basketball net and a ping-pong area as well as a beach library that is open during the summer time.
Also, this beach is perfect for practicing water sports such as windsurfing as the wind conditions are really good for this kind of activity.

However, it is important to note that the Mar Bella beach is also known as Barcelona’s nudist beach as it offers a designated nudist area. Nonetheless, it is important to point out that you don’t have to be nude in order to enjoy some time at the Mar Bella beach and many people there are dressed normally in bathing suits.  
Other facilities include public bathrooms, showers, and lifeguards and there are also kiosks as well as ice cream stands that can cool down nicely a hot day at the beach.
And in terms of security even though there are always some civil guards present you should either not leave your staff unattended or not bring anything of value to the beach as Barcelona is the pickpockets’ paradise.
