Walking in the Ciudadela park is a unique experience, hard to describe in words. Understanding the feeling this park can produce can be lived only by visiting is and trying to perceive the historical atmosphere that surround it.
Walking around the park and visiting its many corners may take you at least 4 hours, hours that will surely pass very fast.
In this small paradise within but away from the stress of the city of Barcelona, there is a space for the history lovers, the fans of the botanic and plants, as many of the botanic plants in this park are labelled and marked so you can get more information about them. In the park you can find more that 100 species of birds, some of those arrive every year to the park as part of their migratory route.

In the park there are many socio-cultural activities taking place, some are planificated in advance such as the Jazz concerts of the Mercé fiestas, the Earth festival, the Sardanas among others.
There is a monument dedicated to Picasso which was made by Antoni Tápies and that alludes his nonconformism and his extravagance and original character. In the park there are at least 47 obligatory stops and places to visit in order to really get to know it.
These stops will be in buildings, monuments, busts, fountains and other places of interest. One of the most impressive works that welcome you when you approach the park is the Arc of Triumph. Built with red stones and pronouncing the figures of Josep Llimona, Antoni Vilanova, Torquat Tassó and Josep Reynés.
The Justice Palace is an impressive modernist building in side the park while at the end of the Passeo Lluis Companys you will find one of the 10 gates to the park.
Other interesting sites in the park are the Zoology Museum and the castle of the 3 dragons, the water fall, the lake, the stone mammoth…
The best way to explore the park is to walk in it taking your time and paying good attention to the small details.
