The “Casa Batlló” is the most celebrated building on the “Block of Discored” in Barcelona’s Eixample district. It stands at the Passeig de Gracia and it is one of the best known works of Gaudi. It is a result of Radical reform and modernization of a commercial and residential building, in which Gaudi unfolded all his genius. It represents the advent of a new centaury and the metaphorical defeat of the previous century’s academicist style at the hands of the revolutionary artistic trend.
The Batlló house is fascinating for its extreme design, its repertory of visual solutions, its creative use of materials and colours, and the allegorical values. It was declared a world Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.
