The neighbourhood of Barceloneta is ideal for tourists looking to be near the sea, but without being too far from the city center. Check out our Apartments in Barceloneta section. Furthermore, Barceloneta has a wide range of nightlife for young people.

The area was originally  established by fishermen in the 18th century as a seperate village, of which still remain some narrow streets. Barceloneta is completely different these days, a cosmopolitan area full of bars and cafes with music playing day and night. Furthermore, Barceloneta offers the best seafood of Barcelona.

The beach is of course the most important attraction of Barceloneta, and is full of tourists and locals alike throughout the summer, the “chiringuitos” or beach bars are packed and ambulant salesmen walk up  and down the beach offering  cold drinks, massages or bikinis.

If you are looking for a touch of culture, Barceloneta offers the Catalunya history  Museum (Museo de Historia de Cataluña). Here you can find out about the city of Barcelona and Catalunya, its culture and its people. Directly outside the museum is a metro stop, which is 1 stop from the center or  15 minutes walking from the city center.
