Central and Comfortable apartment

USERRATING 9/10 2012-01-22 by client Very comfortable big appartment, clean. Very good location, near marcet, supermarcet, a lot of cafe and restorants. You do not need transport to achieve points of interest, including the sea. But somebody may have problems with narrow staircase without lift. But if you are young and healthy everything is OK/ More about this apartment

In and Around Barcelona

Discovering Barcelona hanging in the air aboard the cable car is a unique sensation. The views from the Barcelona Cable Car (Teleférico de Barcelona) are spectacular, and should not be missed if you are planning to visit the city.

The Teleférico de Barcelona was built for the Universal Exposition in 1929, and stretches over the old Port, running from the San Sebastian Tower in Barceloneta up to Miramar, to the castle at the top of Montjuic. The journey sees  you reaching a height of around 70 meters, and there are views of the port and the city that are breathtaking.

The cable car system was renovated recently, joining the stations of Montjuic, Paseo Miramar, el Mirador and the Castle, which were designed by the arquitect Joan Forgas and offer disabled access.  The cable car run is 752 metres, some 60 m shorter than the old system as the highest station is now situated outside the castle grounds.

The Teleférico has a total of 55 cabins, each carrying up to eight people and equiped with large glass windows and automatic doors. The cable car is open everyday from 10 in the morning and closes at sundown. It is open all year round, although on ocasions closes due to adverse weather conditions such as storms or high winds.

Definitely worth a couple of euros. I took it up to Montjuïs, and I felt that the trip was a bit short, but it evened out as the entire city emerged before my eyes out from behind the tree-tops - priceless.
