Barcelona Aquarium one of the most important marine leisure and educational centers  Mediterranean.  A set of 35 tanks, 11,000 animals of 450 different species, an underwater tunnel of 80 meters, six million liters of water and an immense Oceanarium, the only one in Europe, make this a unique center and a recreation reference already visited more than 14 million people.

It was inaugurated on September 8, 1995, using the latest technology to reproduce, as closely as possible, different marine environments. Tour the 21 aquariums displaying the wonders of the different marine communities of the Mediterranean Sea (among them the immense Oceanarium) and the colorful tropical seas; exposure Aqua Planet, and Explore Space!

One of the attractions of this aquarium  are the mediterranean species. In order to see them without getting wet, the aquarium allows you to wander past 14 different aquariums representing the Mediterranean communities.

In each aquarium is impossible to know the most characteristic species. Between the tanks there are also two re-creations of protected areas of the coasts of Catalonia. A walk through the methacrylate tunnel  in the Oceanarium lets you think you are swimming among sharks.

But you can also learn more about tropical plants, a fascinating world of color opens up under the sea. Are coral reefs, and unique architectural creations of spectacular beauty, built by small colonial invertebrates, corals.
