Parc de l´Oreneta
The Castell de l'Oreneta Park is a large forest area of 17 hectares, which has become a connection between Barcelona and the Collserola mountains. It opened in 1978 and originally there was a castle built in 1910 in the highest part of the park. Only a few walls and a tower remain today because the castle was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War.
It is an excursion into a forest inside the city, where the local authorities have improved the network of roads and created rest areas and children's play areas. The two main attractions of the park are a miniature train that carries visitors for a visit of the ñagnificent park and riding on a pony for children.
The Castell de l'Oreneta Park conserves almost intact its primary Mediterranean vegetation, with species which are very characteristic of the Barcelona mountains and forms a very attractive place to visit. Also, some trees have been classified as listed species, such as the enormous eucalyptus and the Santa Llúcia cherry.
