Palau Reial de Pedralbes

Palau Reial de Pedralbes was built in 1920 and completed in 1929 as the palatial estate of Count Eusebi Güell. It was built for the King Alphonso XIII (1886-1931) in the Renaissance style. King Alphonso, which is the grandfather of the Spanish King Juan Carlos I, visited the palace in the mid 1920's before the building was completed. In 1931, during the Second Spanish Republic, the palace became the property of the municipal government, and it was converted to a decorative art museum in 1932.

Nowadays, the palace house is transformed into two museums which can be found on the first and second floor inside. Museums: Museum of Ceramics and Museum of Decorative arts.

The Palace is surrounded by big wonderful and luxuriant gardens with sculptures and fountains. The Princess Cristina, the second daughter of the current King, Juan Carlos I, celebrated her marriage in this palace in 1997.

Once you enter the beautiful place, you can see an elegant big hall with main stairs and a big wonderful lamp. The ground floor has a throne room and large adjoining rooms which are now used for official receptions. The first and second floors house both the Museum of Ceramics and the Decorative Arts Museum.
