The Cruilla Festival is coming to town!

Pencils out, diaries open and mark the date 6 – 7 July 2012 has a festival that has been designed to cater to everyone’s tastes. Yes, that is right, the fifth edition of the Cruilla Festival is coming to Barcelona and you will be treated to over 40 acts that will be sure to get your feet moving and your hips swaying to the beats.

As is typical with Barcelona and her ways, the event will mainly focus of ethnic music, but will also feature performances from hip-hop, reggae and rock artists, plus if that was not enough, you will be exposed to a wide array of musical talents and styles.

So how does a hall of fame, American Rock Band sound to you, well get ready because headlining this year’s Cruilla Festival is Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Be sure not to miss out on this once in a lifetime performance by this influential rock band because this is the first time they are back in Barcelona since 2005.

This year, one of the biggest bands, Cypress Hill is also visiting Barcelona and bringing with them their authentic sound as well as their fighting spirit.

As one of the most talented acts to come out of Africa, the married duo of Amadou & Mariam from Mali will showcase their Malian style of Reggae and R&B to create Afro-Pop. At the time of the Cruilla Festival the pair will be getting ready to release their new album, Folila, and this will be the first time that Barcelona will welcome them to its stages.

If Madonna and Pearl Jam can share a stage with Gogol Bordello, then you know this punk band is something special. With their gypsy-style music that is mixed together with the sounds from different instruments, the band offers a real musical buffet for you to enjoy.

If you are interested in Reggae, and you have heard of Leonard Cohen of Jamaica, then you are in for a treat because Linton Kwesi Johnson, an artist that has been compared to the great musician will also be performing. Johnson has been influential in the style of Reggae over the last couple of years and has produced a new style called Dub Poet, which mixes poetry and reggae into one. Not to be missed out on!

With 40 acts gracing the fair shores of this Mediterranean Capital, Barcelona will provide the entertainment, theatre, dance and games for all her guests and it will defiantly been a memory that you will not forget easily.
