Barcelona Christmas Markets
Freitag, den 28. Oktober 2011 um 11:04 Uhr
Christmas is a very important holiday in Barcelona, people cannot wait for it to come and go Christmas shopping. There are other traditions around Christmas that are more specific to Catalunya. There are also many holiday markets all across Barcelona such as La Feria de Santa Lucia or la Fira de Nadal, for instance. There are of course more Christmas markets such as la Fira de Brocanters, Mostra d’Artesans de la Ribera and Col.lectiu d’Artesans de l’Alimentació which are nice and illuminated during the holiday season and sell gifts but these run all year through.
La Feria de Santa Lucia
Located on La Plaza de la Catedral, outisde Barcelona cathedral, you can see many stands set up, from mid November untill Christmas, this is Barcelona`s oldest, biggest and most traditional Christmas market: la Feria de Santa Lucia. This holiday market features many local vendors who sell Christmas trees, the famous Caga Tio there, which is an important part of Catalan Christmas traditions, decorations, mistletoes and much more. A section of the market is called Artesania. There is a wide range of stall selling hand-made and artisan jewellery, toys, ornaments, etc. This market truly brings the Christmas feeling to Barcelona. Especially in the evening, when the lights are on and glisten against the backdrop of the Cathedral.
