The meteo in Barcelona is sometimes unpredictable. Even if Barcelona is beautiful during summer, the rain can come but it should not ruin your stay! Here are some activities you can do during a rainy day in Barcelona.

Start your day with a quality, hot breakfast

To start a good rainy day, eat a succulent breakfast at the fairy We Pudding Café, in a circus atmosphere with giant mushrooms around you, you will feel like Alice in Wonderland. You can also go to the Farga Café, a creative and refined cake shop, probably the best in Barcelona with a classy atmosphere within its walls. Also the famous Bopan bakery, one of the best in the Catalan capital city, to enjoy several high quality bread and pastries with a hot coffee. El Fornet, if you want to taste some of high quality breads, croissants and other pastries this is the place to go. Eventually, the Mauri, a classic Catalan tearoom where you can enjoy chocolates and high quality pastries on the morning.

Go shopping

If it is raining, you can take shelter in some of the best shopping areas of Barcelona, such as Las Ramblas, Avinguda del Portal de l’Angel or El Borne district. Those shopping centers, especially El Borne, are really pleasant to spend a rainy day going shopping and benefiting from the heating of these shops.

You can also go to the commercial centers such as Maremagnum, Las Arenas, Diagonal Mar, El Glories etc.

Discover the city with the Bus Turístic

The rain should not prevent you from visiting the Catalan capital city. The double-decker bus from Plaça Catalunya is covered so do not worry you will enjoy a great sight without getting wet.

You can choose between three tours that will lead you to the best monuments, shops and museums of Barcelona including La Pedrera, La Sagrada Familia, the Parc Guëll, the Camp Nou, the Parc de la Ciutadella or El Passeig de Gracia. There are also stops at great museums like the MNAC, the Museu Marítim or the Museu D’Història de Catalunya.

Visit museums

Museums and art galleries are really pleasant to visit during rainy days. Furthermore, some museums are free on Sunday. Amongst the museums of interest, we recommend to visit the MACBA, the MHCAT, the Museu Marítim, the Museu Picasso, the Chocolate Museum, the CaixaForum, the Fundació Joan Miró or the Fundació Antoni Tàpies.

Some of these museums are free of charge, but you may visit the official websites to know more about. There, you can discover some of the best artworks from great artists, some incredible remainings from the Roman times, amazing stories from the naval domination of Catalunya and so on. Everything to fill up with culture during a rainy day!
