Description
This facinating opera by Claude Debussy's was first performed in 1902 and is based on a poem by Maurice Maeterlink. The storyline has suprising twists and the new modern music far from the origional of Wagner makes this opera withwhile visiting. With a plot like the tale of Tristan and Isolde this performance is romantic and passionate. This story is played in and round a medieval castle in a total of five acts. Pelléas et Mélisande was first performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu on 16 December 1930. It lasts apporoximately 3 hours and 20 minutes and Forty-five minutes before each performance, an information session about the opera is held in the Foyer which is open to all audience members.
The opera is performed at the 27th and 29th of June and 1, 3, 5 and 7 of July.

Description
Gran Teatre del Liceu is located in the city center of Barcelona, on the La Rambla street. It was created in 1847 and has since then been used as the primer site for many different theatre shows, operas and much more. A large part of the building was destroyed due to a fire in 1861. The Teatre del Liceu suffered yet another fire in 1994 where afterwards a big renovation took place and in 1999 the theatre was reopened again.
