Catalan people surely have their own way to celebrate La Diada de Sant Jordi, or also widely known as the day of rose or the day of book, one of the most famous and special celebrations in Barcelona. People often compare this day with Valentine; however, La Diada de Sant Jordi stands out in many ways. On that day, not only Catalan woman receive roses but also they give books to their beloveds, friends and colleagues. There is no doubt that on La Diada de Sant Jordi; flower shops and book stores reach their record of selling. La Rambla, one of the most noted streets in the city is packed with book stalls and rose- selling vendors and stores. Men are attached with books; meanwhile it’s really hard to spot a woman without rose in her hands.
Many other great activities will also take place during La Diada de Sant Jordi, like the performance of sardana- the national dance of Catalonia or opening with free entrance of the Palau de la Generalitat, Barcelona's principal government building(only for that day).
