Gays in Spain are very normal. Barcelona has some gay areas. This is a place where many gay people live. The pride parade is a highlight of the gay festival. The starting point of the 2012 pride parade route is on Plaça Universitat continuing along Sepúlveda street towards Plaça d’Espanya and finishes on Avinguda Maria Cristina. The Pride Parade features colourful floats and walking groups. The general public are welcome join in the parade.
