Barcelona museums

Macba BarcelonaIn the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona you can see contemporary art from the year 1940 and on. A lot of art pieces that belong to the collection are from Catalan artists like Miró and Tàpies. But there are also art pieces exposed from artists coming from other regions and countries. This so there can be perceived different international tendencies. The things that Macba organizes most are temporary exhibitions.

The museum was designed by the famous American Richard Meier and opened his doors in 1995.  The build is made out of big glass surfaces combined with white ones. Some parts are very modern and level, they make it look like a membrane. More undulating surfaces are standing out. The monumental building was first providing a lot of commotion. A lot of people thought this modern building would’nt fit in an area like El Raval.
