High speed train from France will do the Paris-Barcelona route in 7.2 hours as from December 2010

The TGV (High speed train) of France will start operating as from December twice a day between Paris and Figueras (Girona), and thanks to the connection between Figueras and Barcelona the route will  be 7.2 hours long.
The train company of France has confirmed the operation of this service which will use the new rails going between Perpignan and Figueras.

The first train will leave Paris at 07:20 in the morning and will arrive to Figueras at 12:44, from where the passengers could take a RENFE train to Barcelona, in conventional line, until works on the high speed route between Barcelona and Figueras will be concluded some time in 2012-2013. The second train will leave Paris at 15:20 and after transboarding in Figueras at 20:45 the passengers will arrive to Barcelona at 22:40 hours. These schedules are not definite and could be subjected to changes says the French company.

For the moment the company can't confirm the prices of the tickets for this service which will be added to the already operating night train line between Paris and Barcelona (Talgo).
