If you want to be lost in small, typical Catalan streets and to find unknown designers or small unique shops, this is clearly the place to go. There are not a lot of people in the Raval district since it is not really known by tourists. This is the city´s heart, one of the main places where you feel the real identity of Barcelona.
Walking through these streets is a pure pleasure, especially during sunny days. You may find the unique clothes you have dreamed of in those privately owned small shops. Designers are numerous there and offer some premium, one-off brands which are affordable compared with the Passeig de Gràcia shops. There are also some typical restaurants which offer you some cold drinks, tapas or menus to take a break during your shopping day.
Moreover, some street concerts take place on some occasions, and the district is very alive during the night and the day so you can feel the real vibration of the city and leave with unforgettable memories.
Eventually, next to the Raval district, you could find two main markets: La Boqueria and El Mercat Sant Antoni. If you want to buy some fresh fruits, vegetables, meat or if you want to eat typical plates, tapas or fresh typical drinks, those two places are worth it.
