Parc de Cervantes
The area of Les Corts has a lot to offer, such as the Palau Reial de Pedralbes, the former Spanish royal castle and the Jardins del Palau Reial de Pedralbes. Continuing further up on Av. Diagonal, you can visit the Camp Nou football stadium.
Another feature of this area is the Parc de Cervantes. It is located on an area where the Estela stream used to collect water that came from the Sant Pere Martir hill. It is a beautiful green space with incredible vegetation. It is most known for its rose garden. This park is very popular among athletic people, where especially runners and cyclists use the paths in the park for their workouts. It further includes tables for table tennis, a play area for children and a picnic area.
The Parc de Cervantes in Pedralbes’ neighborhood features 245 varieties of flowers. From red, yellow and blue roses to climbing rose bushes and miniature ones. You can enjoy the colorful atmosphere almost the whole year around, as well as the open areas of the park, which welcome you when entering Barcelona from the Av. Diagonal.
The park contains plenty of beautiful roses set out in all shapes and colors from every continent of the world. This area, where roses bloom from April to November due Barcelona’s mild climate, is known as the pergola. Since the year 2001, the park gives an international rose show featuring new species which are added to its multicolored collection. Currently, they collection includes 245 different varieties and 10.000 rose bushes.
In addition to the rose garden, which covers an area of 4 hectares, the Parc de Cervantes offers extensive grassy areas, which are ideal for jogging, cycling, and gymnastics, or just for taking a stroll in the heart of the Pedralbes’ neighborhood. Moreover, it conceals a small open-air museum. So it is a definitely must see in Barcelona!
