Sonar Festival

Sonar is one of the biggest dance festivals in Europe at the moment. Not only does it have the big names playing but it is set in Barcelona of all places. The line up for 2010 is massive with the likes of Hot Chip, Dizzie Rascal and 2manydjs among many other hit names. It is so popular because of the slightly more civilized nature of the festival. There is no need to camp if you sort out your accommodation early. You can rent an apartment, with a kitchen, a bed and washing facilities and yet you still experience the music and have the beach on your door step, making it a holiday and a festival.

Having said that it is not just a series of concerts, there is still that air of frivolity and party about the city. There are concerts outside and the city is full of all sorts of amazing and diverse people and places. Sonar is definitely one of the best times to visit Barcelona, admittedly it will be full of tourists but there is no doubt that in three days you will have a weekend you will never forget and you will fall in love with the city.
