A Rooftop in the old city apartment

USERRATING 8/10 2012-05-20 by client The location was very central. It not in the most secure part of the city. The terrace was fabulous and made our stay really enjoyable. Would have been nice to have some basic extras for cooking such as oil and condiments and a larger coffee pot. The bed is low so not the best for people with restricted flexibility. New years evening in BarcelonaCelebrate the new year in Barcelona in style. There are plenty of ways to celebrate your new year in Barcelona. You can decide to go ballroom dancing, dance flamengo or salsa or watch performances of artists. There is also the possibility of eating a Catalan dinner with friends or family.

Heading to plaza catalunya to wait for the new year to start is a good idea. Afterwards, there is the possibility to attend huge parties organized by clubs that will be going on until the early morning.

Tradition

In Spain it is a new years tradition to try to eat 12 grapes as the clock chimes 12 times at midnight. If you are able to finish them you will get a wish, it is believed  that finishing them will make your wish come true, on the other hand not finishing them is considered bad luck.

Where to celebrate

Most Catalans celebrate the countdown and the beginning fo the new year with their family and friends. After a big meal, they hit the streets at a bit past one. Bars and clubs will get more crowded from then on, there will also be a lot of celebration on the streets such as Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas.

Its also a possibility to celebrate at one of the bigger restaurants where you can have some cava and grapes and a nice dinner (make sure to make a reservation in advance though). Younger people ususually decide to celebrate near the beach or at plaza Catalunya where around 80.00 people gather every year.

Clubs

Most clubs are usually open at around 2 in the morning, this is because new years evening starts off a bit slowly but when the night progresses it gets a lot more crowded and fun.

For bigger clubs it is advised that you have your route figured out before you go because getting around on new years evening can be quite the task.

Luckily the metro will be running all night, which means you dont have to search for a free taxi, allthough taxi's are a good option as well if you are with a few people and just want to get there quickly.
Good clubs to visit at new years evening are:

These are all good clubs to visit for you to celebrate the new year. So after doing the traditional celebrations and drinking some cava there will be a lot op partying people on La Rambla,Plaza Catalunya,Agbar Tower and Plaza Reial.

Tickets are usually available via the clubs' website. Barcelona is a nice choice to spent the beginning of the new year in, make sure to book your flights and accomodation on time, because the closer to the new year the less available and more expensive it usually gets.

Hi! I am from Barcelona and I will be attending a new year's eve party at a club called New Casanovas, in the centre of the city. It's organised by medical students, but everyone's invited so there will be all kinds of people. The party starts at 00:30 (basically all parties in Barcelona start after midnight), and will be going on until 5:30 am.
The tickets are 35 € if you buy them before the 28th, and they include entrance to the club and as many drinks as you want to have.
I've been to this party other years and it has never disappointed me, so I recomend it!
Here you have the link to the fb event, everything's written in catalan but the information is basically what i told you here. I hope you like it :) http://www.facebook.com/events/176144492481376/
