The Poblesec neighbourhood forms part of the Montjuic district and is located between the parallel avenue and the Montjuic mountain, just minutes walk from the Raval District and the old city of Barcelona. This is a very friendly and quiet residential area, traditionally occupied by hard working class people, mostly immigrants from different parts of Spain.

During the last years a growing number of young families, bohemians, artists and foreigners from many different countries are starting to move in to the neighbourhood, attracted by the unique combination of it’s quiet and residential character and the traditional and authentic Spanish splendour, which is still strongly present. In this neighbourhood you can still find the authentic cheap Spanish tapas bar and restaurants, the local neighbourhood shops, some very interesting night clubs along side modern restaurant, shops and bars.

The heart of the neighbourhood is the famous “Parallel”, a wide avenue that during decades was the centre of Barcelona’s night life, with theatres, night clubs and music hall, of which some are still operating until today. It is a great accommodation choice in Barcelona for those who want to be located near the very centre of the city (15 minutes walk to the “La Rambla”) but also whish to enjoy the tranquillity and quietness of a residential area. You are also close to Plaza España on one side and on the other side of the Parallel you are a walking distance from the old port and the “Funicular” that takes you to the Montjuic complex.

Many of Barcelona’s main tourists attractions are near by, or very near the neighbourhood, such as the Montjuic Olympic complex (the Olympic stadium, the old cemetery and the ancient Montjuic fort…), the old Canadian power station (LA CANADENÇA), the Archaeology museum of Catalunya (Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya), the CaixaForum, The Botanic Garden (El Jardí Botanic), El Pueblo Español and more... There are 2 Metro stations along the Parallel: Poblesec station and Parallel station, as well as many buses that connect to all parts of the city.
