Tipping in Berlin
Pazartesi, 04 Ocak 2010 13:38
Although tipping is not obligatory it is rather a custom in Berlin. A tip of 5%-10% is desirable, if you were satysified about the service. In smaller bars, cafes and taxis it is usual to round up the bill to the nearest Euro. In more famous restaurants and hotels service charges are normally added to the bill, in these cases tipping becomes unnecessary. The extra charges should be clearly stated in the menu or on the bill.
It is much better to pay the tips in cash - it is the only way to assure, that the person you have chosen receives the extra money fully. The other, even more popular way of tipping is to tell how much you want to pay - leaving money on the table is rather rare. Thanks to telling the exact amount of money helps in case of "tipping confusion".
Getting around Berlin - public transportation
Pazartesi, 04 Ocak 2010 12:37
Berlin, unlike most of the other cities, has a perfectly organized public transportation system. It consists out of U-Bahns (underground trains), S-Bahns (interurban train), several buses, night buses, trams, and trains. The whole city is divided into 3 tariff zones (A,B,C), where A covers all of the areas which are interesting for tourists, the C area reaches Potsdam - a small city near Berlin that consists mostly out of suburbs. Thanks to the integrated system you can get to any place in Berlin in a relative short period of time using all of the available transportation by buying only one ticket.
Berlin Clubs
Pazartesi, 07 Aralık 2009 16:42
Berlin, exactly as New York is a city that never sleeps. There is no closing times restrictions, so most of the clubs, discos, bars are opened whole the night. There are three main clubs districts in Berlin: Prenzlauerberg-Mitte, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshein, where you can party the whole night long.
As Berlin is considered as a very tolerant and alternative city you can find here everything you can thing about - even beach Bars (on the river side), or sophisticated sex clubs, as well as rock, alternative and funky clubs. The capital of Germany is also the world´s capital for electronic music.
Nightlife in Berlin can be tricky.
