There, they escaped battles, they crowned kings, they built majestical buildings and they unloaded exotic goods from some of the most remote places in the world.

Some of the most tradicional attractions along the river are:

Hampton Court - A spectacular Tudor Palace of Henry VIII, where you can look round the actual rooms and gardens.

Ham House- A typical European residence from the 17th century and its exquisite displays.

Kew Botanical Gardens - An important centre of botanic research whihc exhibits plants from all over the world.

Chiswick House - A splendid house where you can see beautiful wprks of art.

South Bank Centre - It is the biggest centre of art in Europe, including theatres, concert halls and an enormous IMAX cinema.

Globe Theatre - A reconstruction of Shakespeare´s theatre where they have observed and maintained the Elizabethan style and original artefacts.

Tower of London - It is one of the best preserved old buildings int he world. It served as a fortress, a palace and a prison. Here you can appreciate the invaluable Crown Jewels and see the famous ancient ceremony of the keys performed every day by the gaurds.

Design Museum - The best place to see strange and contemporary designs.

London Bridge - It is an magnificent monument of Victorian engineering.

There are different ways of appreciating the river. You can go by foot, following the sings located on the bank or you can do the Silver Jubilee Walkway, being guided by the plaques on the ground.
You can appreciate a paoramic view from Westminster, London Bridgeor the London Eye, the enormous wheel

 

which takes about 30 minutes to go all the way round.
Another option is to sail, taking a boat from the embankment or the quay at West

minster.
