Berlin is well known for it's multicultural and international ambiance, due to this diversity it has restaurants which suits every taste and pocket. In the German capital there are living people from all over the world so you can enjoy almost every cuisine you could thing of: French, Italian, Balkan, Asian, oriental, Indian etc... The restaurants are very varied. In some areas visitors can take pleasure ofdegustating the authentic meals in exclusive, world's famous restaurants, in other you have a great time in a budget place, where the food tastes also very good.
The German capital has become the center of world's cuisine, but the most famous thing about eating out are "Imbiss". Those small "huts" with food and 2 or 3 tables outside, where you can eat your snack, offer tasty food in reasonable price. The most popular variant of sausage is "currywurst", which is boiled, sliced into small pieces and covered with ketchup and curry. Other "street-speciality" is Kebab. Almost at every corner there is a small Kebab place where you can buy a perfectly tasting Turkish meals. Berliner like also China Box -asian nudles in a box, or shawarma. All of that for 3-5€. Doesn't it sound great? To make the meal perfect you have to order "Berliner weisse mit Schuss" (beer with green or red syroup), or simply Berliner Pilsner.

One of the trends in Berlin's cuisine is "eating clean". Above all in Prenzlauerberg and Friedrichshein there is a number of popular vegetarian restaurants with organic food. You should definitely try some of the menus of those places - you would be surprised how tasty the healthy food can be. Even fans of fatty burger will not be disappointed -soy-burgers with fantastic sauces and vegetables are delicious in Kreuzberg. In those modern bars young people usually drink Bionade.
As mentioned above Berlin is also famous for the exclusive places for more demanding customers. The most famous restaurants are located in Charlottenburg and Mitte. Also Potzdamerplatz offers a wide range of fashionable places, where German celebrities have lunch. The most popular is Alt Luxemburg, which is awarded by the Michelin star every year since 1988. An other excellent spot is "Zur Letzten Instanz" -the oldest restaurant in Berlin. As a matter of fact Napolen was a regular guest there, which is alone a good reason to visit this place. Many celebrities eat in Borchardt - exclusive french restaurant with fabulous meals, hence reservations are obligatory.
