Berlin Cathedral

Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is an Evangelical Cathedral located in Mitte district of Berlin. It was built in the years 1894-1905 to plans by architect Julius Carl Raschdorff in the style of late, Italian Renaissance. In the same place where today stands the cathedral, earlier was standing a smaller cathedral in the baroque style.
In 1944, the cathedral was damaged by Allied bombing raids, but the rebuilding started first in 1975. The temple has 1500 seats and is one of the largest in Berlin. Exactly in this cathedral are held ecumenical worships on the occasion of important moments for the nation. The Berlin Cathedral was inspiration for many architects f.ex. Evangelical-Augsburg Church of St. Trinity in Lodz in Poland.
Victory Column

Siegessäule (Victory Column) is a Prussian column located in the Tiergarten park in Berlin, designed by Heinrich Strack after 1864 to commemorate Prussian victories over Denmark in the Danish war of 1864 (seizure of Schleswig-Holstein). It was unveiled on 2 October, 1873 commemorating the victory in the war with Austria and with France.
Alexanderplatz

The Alexanderplatz, or popularly called Alex, is a square and traffic junction in the Eastern part of Berlin. Daily more than 300.000 people are passing by. The square is situated in the district ‘Mitte’ and is named after Tsaar Alexander I. The fountain on the square is a well-known meeting point with the locals. Near the square a big tourist attraction is situated, the Fernseheturm (TV Tower).
Unter den Linden

Unter den Linden is one of the most famous avenues in Berlin. This avenue was the glory path of the Prussian kings and the German emperors and the saunter lane for the middle-class. Later on it became the avenue of the of the commercial industrial revolution and as well the avenue of the triumphing socialism of the former DDR. If you walk this avenue from the Brandenburger Tor until the Alexanderplatz over the Schloßbrücke from the Karl-Liebknecht- Straße, you will see a lot of important attractions along the way.

Probably the most famous building in Berlin is the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate), the only one of the fourteen gates of the city which has survived to this day. During the times of Berlin's partition the gate was closed by the Berlin Wall. After the reunification of Germany it became one of the symbols of the re-united country.
