New York City Guide - Visiting New York
As everyone knows, Vacation rentals new york and Manhattan in particular is a vertical metropolis whose size never fails to amaze you. There are some places in New York though that can truly show how magnificent this vibrant city is. I have compiled a short list of places where you can observe and be struck by the beauty of New York.
Helicopter Ride
In my opinion, the best way to fully understand and appreciate the size of New YOrk is by taking a helicopter ride over the city. There are numerous different tours to go on and numerous companies to choose from. The prices start at $150 so it is not cheap but you are sure to rember this tripnot just for the remainder of your stay in New York but the rest of your life.
Empire State Building
Aside from being one of New York´s most iconic landmarks, the Empire State Building is also one of the best venues for observing New York. The observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floor offer incredible 360 degree views on New York. The observation deck on the 86th floor offers views from 1,050 feet above New York while the 102nd floor observation deck is from 1,250 feet so the view is incredible.
Top of Rockefeller Centre
The most popular of all the observation decks in New York is the observation deck at the top of the GE building or "The Top Of The Rock" as it is affectinatey called. Some of the most spectacular views of New York are from here as you have the stand out feature of all of Manhattan, Central Park behind you, the Hudson and East rivers on either side and then Downtown Manhattan in front of you. Of course, the Top Of The Rock also offers the best view of the Empire State Building in all of Manhattan.
Statue Of Liberty
The most famous lady in New York sits proudly atop her monumnet on Liberty Island set in New York Harbour. One of the most important landmarks in America as it represents the freedom that America now enjoys. The views from the island are amazing, even while staying on the ground, you can look across the harbour towards Downtown Manhattan and are rewarded with a breathtaking view of "The Big Apple" while the view from the top of the statue is even better as the elevation allows you to admire the beauty and size of the whole of New York and not just Manhattan.
Brooklyn Bridge
One of the most famous bridges in the world is Brooklyn Bridge over the East River connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge itself is spectacular but the view that you see from the bridge is every bit as special. Manhattan rises from the ground before your eyes and you willnot fail to be impressed by this view. The view looking towards Brooklyn is also very breathtaking as is the view as you look over towards the harbour and see Governor and Liberty Island glistening in the distance.
Salon De Ning
One of the most interesting views and the one of the best for putting New York into perspective is at the bar Salon De Ning on top of the Peninsula Hotel. Set in the heart of sprawling skyscrapers, looking around provides you with a great context as to the size and scope of New York although you will pay for the privelege thorugh the drink prices.
Brooklyn Heights
Set on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade on the East River in Brooklyn is Brooklyn Heights. The views here of Manhattan are some of the best on dry land. There is no other place in New York where you can see Liberty and Governor Island, Downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge as well as the Empire State building and Manhattan other buildings glistening in the background. An amazing view of a incredible city.
New York can obviously not be confined into a few views as there are so many outstanding views in New York then it is tougher to find a uninteresting than a interesting view. The best way to see New York is to rent a apartment and see for yourself the delights of the city. Check out our hoiliday rentals for a great selction.
