Victory Column

Siegessäule (Victory Column) is a Prussian column located in the Tiergarten park in Berlin, designed by Heinrich Strack after 1864 to commemorate Prussian victories over Denmark in the Danish war of 1864 (seizure of Schleswig-Holstein). It was unveiled on 2 October, 1873 commemorating the victory in the war with Austria and with France. At the top of the column there is a bronze statue of Nike (Victoria) - 8.3 meters height and weighing 35 tonnes, designed by Friedrich Drake. The total height of the column with the statue is 66.89 m. Inside the column there are stairs (285 steps) leading to situated at a height of 50.66 meters viewing platform. From the viewing platform you can enjoy a magnificant view of the Tiergarten park and Berlin's.
The square surrounding the column was the finishing line of Love Parade, a big electronic music event organized in Berlin since 1989 till 2007. Under the column stands of DJs were located, representing different varieties of trance, house, techno, schranz, minimal, etc.
