Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is an Evangelical Cathedral located in Mitte district of Berlin. It was built in the years 1894-1905 to plans by architect Julius Carl Raschdorff in the style of late, Italian Renaissance. In the same place where today stands the cathedral, earlier was standing a smaller cathedral in the baroque style. In 1944, the cathedral was damaged by Allied bombing raids, but the rebuilding started first in 1975. The temple has 1500 seats and is one of the largest in Berlin. Exactly in this cathedral are held ecumenical worships on the occasion of important moments for the nation. The Berlin Cathedral was inspiration for many architects f.ex. Evangelical-Augsburg Church of St. Trinity in Lodz in Poland.
